Happy New Year !!!
After finishing fifth in points in '07 I am more than happy to put that year behind us. '08 will bring significant changes to "Bubba Racing", but at this time I am not ready to tell you what they are. I attended the PRI trade show in Orlando in early December and came away with some great ideas. Not to mention meeting alot of really great people. The schedule for the '08 Mickey Thompson Tough Truck Challenge is up. I will add other events that I plan on attending as those dates become available. In the coming weeks we will be able to tell you more about what is in the future for "Bubba Racing" so be sure to check back soon!

Long time no news!
But we do have some news to report. We raced in Tampa, FL on 1/20/07. We broke front end parts in the quarterfinals. We won that round, the semi-final round, and had a good run going in finals until I spun out. We came away with a 2nd place finish. The following weekend we raced in Orlando, FL. This too was an USHRA event. The day before the race we discovered "Bubba's" transmission had no operating gears. Thankfully a fellow competitor, Jason Makuch, had a tranny that he donated to us so that we could compete. On raceday we qualified 2nd. I never try too hard in qualifying, just get into the top 8! In the first round I thanked Jason for the tranny... by knocking him out. Then I met my traveling partner Mark Noto, who also helped me change the tranny, in the semi-finals and I thanked him as well by sending him to the trailer. In the finals I faced Joey Leone who has about 300hp more than Bubba. Bubba was not going to be denied!! We went on to win our first stadium race with a convincing win to the delight of the more than 65,000 people!!!!!
I have updated the schedule and more news about the upcoming season will be coming.
See ya at the races... Roger

Hi all!
Not a good weekend in Bloomsburg for us. Differential breakage seemed to be the norm for
our weekend. Friday qualifying times from the left lane stood for everyone.
The rear diff broke a bearing cap when I mashed the throttle on the
starting line. I ran the course with only front wheel drive placing 9th out
of 25. The two lanes were about three seconds different, with the right
lane being slower. Everyone ran the right lane Saturday morning in
qualifying. All were much slower. We did not break and were 4th for that
round. On Saturday nights round of qualifying we could chose the lane we
wanted. All chose the left lane. We were on a pace to improve our time when
the front pinion shaft broke prior to the last turn, and I spun out.
Basically, if you had lane choice, you won unless the driver in the other
lane really messed up. We made it a race though in the first round only to
lose by inches. I lost out on lane choice for the first round by 0.03
seconds :(:(:(
We plan on attending a couple of local events in the coming weeks prior to
Indy in September. Indy will be big!! I am ready for that one!!

Well it has been awhile since I have updated... sorry!! To get you up to date we have only had a couple of races since my last update. We have raced in Harrisburg, PA, Springfield, MO, Lima OH, and Erie, PA. The results from the first three races were nothing stellar. The best we did was a 4th from those three. Erie on the other hand was much better. I have reconfigured both the front and rear suspension, so being able to test it at a track just 40 miles from home was great. I was very cautious Saturday night because of the changes and finished 3rd. On Sunday I decided to push it a little harder... okay a lot harder, we finished 1st. Bubba is working better much better now. I will do some more tweeking before Essex Jct. Note the shedule change for Bloomsburg. It has been resheduled for August 18-20.
That's all for now, Roger
3/6/06
We had yet another great weekend! This time it was La Crosse, WI where we raced Friday and Saturday nights. Yep... we won both!! Pretty soon they will be telling me the wrong dates for upcoming shows or the wrong cities. We have now won 8 out of the last 15. At least that means there is room for improvement:):):) I have received alot of emails this morning from the fans in La Crosse congratulating me. You guys are great!! When you guys were asked "who wants Bubba to win"... you guys were LOUD!!
I couldn't let you down.
Also, a special thanks to Josh and his family for being my guests this weekend!!
2/27/06
We had another great week of racing. We were the #1 qualifier in
Jacksonville and finished 2nd in a very close race. This race was two at a
time with the loser going to the trailer. In all of the rounds, we were the
fastest by a good margin except for the most important one... the final
one. In the finals, the guys told the driver of the "Tropical Depression"
where I had been running my truck so he could try and change his line. He
also has about 750HP to my 400HP. He ran my line and only managed to beat
me by a fender. While we were at the starting line for the final run, the
anouncer asked the crowd who wanted "Tropical Depression" to win. I could
hear a little noise. Then he asked who wants "Bubba" to win. Good thing it
was an open roof stadium, otherwise they would have brought down the roof!
I just came up a little short. I want to say hello to Cody, Jacob, and Jody. Thanks for joining us this weekend! I hope you had a good time! Next is La Crosse, WI.
2/20/06
We had a great weekend in Hampton, VA. We won on Friday night, 3rd Saturday afternoon, and 4th on Saturday night. Saturday afternoon I had bent my panhard bar and could only turn part way to the left on a track that was all left hand turns:(. Then on Saturday night I just pushed it too hard and got a penalty. We set the fastest time of the weekend on Friday night by more than a second over the rest of the field. I also want to thank Crystal and her family for being our guests on Saturday. They made it be a great weekend for us!
2/6/06
It was another great weekend of racing! To start out with, we did not go
to Houston as planned. I had planned to spend some extra time in the area,
and that portion of my trips itinerary was not confirmed. So at the last
minute I decided to make a dollars and sense decision and go to Green Bay,
WI. This turned out to be a very smart move! So what started out as a disappointment in my
itinerary, turned out to be great.
Friday started out at 4am with setting up for a morning news program after
driving all night and arriving at the arena at 2am. We did three segments during the
news with the reporter driving "Bubba" during one of them. So we got some
great media coverage! We won the Friday night race, made a mistake during
the Saturday afternoon race finishing 3rd, then coming back Saturday night
to win again with the fast time of the weekend and a large margin of
victory. The 3rd place finish was a result of a 2 second penalty on a 22
second track and I still placed 3rd.
We are going to stay home for a week, then go to Hampton, VA for another
three race weekend.
1/30/06
Another great weekend of racing!! We won two of the three races in Huntsville, AL and we also won by crowd applause the jump off contest. We lost the first round due to the fact that I was unable to turn hard to the left. In KC last week I must have messed up the sterring box. So, on Saturday morning I modified the sector shaft of the sterring box so that I could reindex the pitman arm. That took care of it!!
This weekend we will head to Houston, TX. With any luck, we'll have another good report for you next week.
1/24/06
Hi everybody!!!
Well we we had a good weekend for the most part in Kansas City. On Friday
night we won!! On my winning pass, I set the track record with a 13.28
second run. The rest of the competition was only able to come within 3/4 of
a second to that pass the rest of the weekend! So why didn't I win on
Saturday and Sunday, you ask... well, on Saturday I was the #1 qualifier by
a large margin. Then in the first round of eliminations I made an error in
one corner of the track but was still the fastest by a 1/4 of a second
going into the semi-finals. Well that wasn't good enough for me... I was
the last one to make a run in the semi-final round. I had heard the time I
needed to beat to go into the final round... no problem. I decided to push
the envelope a little (alot) to see what I could get from the track knowing
that I could recover from a small mistake and still be fast. Lets just say
I found all of what the track had to offer and its limit at the same time.
( Barry Smith from Midland Sports Cards can chime in here, he was there
Saturday) The fastest guy at this point had a mid-fourteen second run. I
had yet to be that slow all weekend. My pass was so fast I was on pace to
have another low-thirteen to high-twelve second run... until the last
corner less than 40' from the finish line... I spun out :(:(:( I
finished fourth on Saturday.
Then on Sunday, a great new day!! The night before's mistake behind me and
nothing but a great pit party with the fans where I again didn't bring
enough hero cards to the party for the fans. They were excited, I was
excited, my competitors on the other hand were wishing for a miracle...
they got there miracle :( During qualifying I was not pushing hard, but on
the exit of the very first turn the sterring wheel got ripped out of my
hands because I had the wheel slightly turned, the throttle depressed, and
I was a little sideways when the front wheels hit the first mound of the
rhythm section... there was not enough time to recover from that. I've been
using a stock steering wheel for years. This past Christmas my wife gave
me a quick release steering wheel... I've been instructed to install the
new steering wheel that has much, much more grip before I race again.
That's all for now... I've got a steering wheel to install :(

Just got home from Atlanta where we placed 5th. There was one portion of the track that I would not pound "Bubba" through. We didn't break anything and are ready to go to Kansas City. We will do better there!!!!!!!!!
12/31/05
Its been awhile since we have updated so here it goes; we finished the summer series in Indy with Special Events where we took fourth in points after a miserably wet day. We finished 9th after loosing in the first round by inches. In that run I had slid up almost against a penalty stake and stopped. Slowly pulled away careful of not knocking it down. I ran "Bubba" as hard as I could to the finish but came up literally inches short.
In November our luck had turned. We won the first round of the inaugural Super Truck Challenge Series in Portland, IN. We followed that up the following weekend in Daytona, FL with a 2nd place finish where I had the win in hand, and simply gave it away by two driving errors in a row. I can hardly wait until round three to win the inaugural series championship.
8/8/05
We had a good weeekend in Vermont racing. In the first round of qualifying
we qualified #3 with our new coilover setup from Skyjacker. In the second
round I slapped the shifter into neutral in the first turn. The lock on my
shifter that would have prevented me from doing that failed. So in the end
we found ourselves as the #6 qualifier.
In racing on Sunday we won the first two rounds. In the semi-finals I lost
by less than half a truck length to the very truck that went on to win the
event in the final round. We ended up finishing in 3rd which is also where
we are at in the points. The only bad part was that the transmission went
in my hauler. Luckily, the www.gotmudd.com crew offered to haul my trailer
home for me while I nursed my ailing truck home the 460 miles.
The next big, and I do mean big event is Indy!! That will be the season finalle on September 23,24, and 25.

Our homepage has changed. The picture you click on to enter is our new hero card. If you would like one, just ask, they are FREE!! Thanks to Bronco Graveyard!
7/12/05
We had a very good weekend in Bloomsburg, PA. The weather was not so great
for qualifying.(rain) We qualifyed 5th overall from a field of 24 trucks
competing for the top 16. On race day, we took out the Dynomax truck in the
first round, then in the second round we took out the Rancho truck. In the
semi-final round we were the first to the finish line by a large margin,
but in the final turn I clipped a barrier on my left inside line with the
front corner of the truck ending a sweet run with a DQ. Therefore I
finished the day with a 4th place finish after guaranteeing myself a final
round appearance.
The only bad part of the weekend was off of the final jump on the last run
I had made. I had checked up at the final jump knowing that it was a bad
ramp. Then at the base of the ramp I stabbed the throttle to make sure the
truck would get some lift. Well "Bubba" was feeling mighty good and has
found some hidden torque with our new "Flowmaster" exhaust system, the bad
part was that I didn't pack the parachute!! When everything was over, the
rear chassis will now have to be removed and rebuilt. What a mess!! But, we
will get the truck fixed and prepared for our next major event in Vermont.
Hopefully, I can have it ready for a couple of smaller events that I had
wanted to do as well.
(PS) We got some great TV coverage!
6/4/05
We raced at a USHRA event in Syracuse, NY on Saturday night to a sold out crowd! The track was a harsh one! Even though "Bubba" sustained a broken transfercase in the first round, we made it to the final round to finish in 2nd. I tell you there are alot of "Bubba" fans in Syracuse they were going nuts each time we made it back. Prior to the final round we had to be towed off of the track because of the transfercase. I managed to get the transfercase into 2 wheel drive so as to get out onto the track, then it let go completely half way around the course. It was a great race and well worth the trip after the water pump on the hauler had let go about halfway there. We had a water pump brought to us, and I changed it on the side of the road. We got to the track just in time. As we were leaving, there were alot of people still around in the parking lot, screaming, yelling, waving, thumbs up, etc. extending their support to us...
that made for an awesome ride home.

We need to get you up to date on our summer series. We have been in Fredricksburg, TX, Springfield, MO, and Lima, OH. The racing has been tough and we are 3rd in points! We have added some new sponsors as of late. They are; Gold Eagle- 104+ and Diesel Power, and Flowmaster. We would like to welcome them to the family of "Bubba" sponsors. Check out their sites you will find them on our links page.
The Lima event was filmed for the Outdoor Channel. When a schedule is released, you will find the info here.

3/7/05
The winter season is finally over and for the second year in a row "Bubba" has finished 2nd in points on the USHRA Pro Truck series!! We certainly have had our share of breakdowns this past season. Jacksonville and Pontiac were our last two races. In Jacksonville we broke the spider gears in the front axle. That was replaced with a new Powerlock from Bronco Graveyard. Guess what... nothing broke in Pontiac!! Over the next few weeks "Bubba" is getting stripped, (easy, easy... Bubba is not becoming an exotic dancer) blasted, and painted in preparation for the upcoming summer season. Just a reminder... April 9th and 10th at 1:00pm on SpikeTv watch the replay of Xtreme4x4. That's all for now!!
2/21/05
What started out as a disasterous weekend in Worcestor, MA, turned into a satisfying weekend of racing. On Friday night qualifying we busted the transfercase. Thankfully Direnzo Towing of Worcestor found one and donated it to us! Saturday afternoon we finished fourth after smacking the wall in the semi-finals resulting in a DQ. Saturday night we just plain came up short and finsihed 3rd. On Sunday afternoon we were not going to be denied and were not going to leave anything on the track. In the final round I was first out and for the first time all weekend I had decided that I was going to either break parts, crash, or win. It was obvious to all what I was doing when I never lifted off the throttle during the run... accept for just before I hit the wall!! What a run I had going, and how excited the fans were. So because of the DQ for hitting the wall, we finsihed 2nd.
Next is Jacksonville, FL where we will vigorously go after that elusive win in a stadium.
2/8/05
It was a long trip to Houston... and an even longer one home. We broke the transfercase, rear driveshaft, and rearend all in qualifying. The result was that we did not qualify for the race making for a very long trip home. We have got some work to do before Worcester where we will have four races.
1/30/05
Sorry for the lack of updates lately! I have been on the road every weekend since 1/8/05. We have been doing well with good finishes including a win in Kansas City. We got home early from Indy today and find ourselves the points leader! We will go to Houston this weekend chasing down that title. Wish us luck!!
12/6/04
The winter season has begun. We qualified 2nd and finished 3rd at the HHH Metrodome in Minneapolis. We actually broke the front driveshaft 1/3 of the way through the first round run. We went on to win the next round as well with only two wheel drive. In the semi finals we were unable get passed Chris McCoy who went on to win the event. All in all it was a great start to the season! Next stop... Atlanta!!
10/31/04
The schedule has been updated. These dates are definite pending sponsorship support. Without sponsorship support, we will be running a limited schedule. We will also add events with MTRS as they develop. So look us up when where in your town!
10/1/04
Another season has come and gone. The results of Indy were not what we had planned. The "General Lee" had a poor qualifying effort while ours was respectable. This scenario brought about "Bubba" facing the general in the first round of eliminations. Bubba showed up raring to go... the driver did not :(:(:(
We lost in the first round opening the door for the "Rancho" truck to surpass us in the points. We ended the season 4th in points. That means there is still room for improvement, and that is the plan for 2005. Be watching SpikeTV starting in January for a new show called "Xtreme 4x4". There will be a segment where we were interviewed while in Indy.
The winter season will be starting soon and we are waiting to see the schedule. We will post the schedule as soon as it is available.
Later all, Roger
8/5/04
Bubba has done well over the last month. We finished 3rd in Bloomsburg, 5th in Canfield, and 4th in Essex Jct, VT. Although the finishes have not been what we would like, we are still safely 3rd in points and only 20 points out of second currently held by the General Lee. Next will be the season finale at Indy on September 24-26 where we will be going after that first win of the season. We need to finish one bracket higher than the General Lee to finish the season 2nd in points. It will take a major misfortune of my Summit teammate (Rory Campbell) for Bubba to win the points battle. Wish us well, and stop in at Summit Truckfest on Sept. 11th in Tallmadge, OH to visit us!
7/1/04
To bring you up to date, we had lack luster performances in Springfield, MO and Lima, OH. Then we finished second in Syracuse, NY and just this past weekend, we finished second in Anderson, SC. That has put us tied for second in points, and only 20 points out of first. Next is Bloomsburg, PA on July 9,10, and 11th... we will be ready!!!
3/15/04
Latest news for Bubba Racing is that we are the USHRA 2004 Division 1 Points Champion Runner-up. We had the most wins (7) within the division. Due to a couple of poor performances, we were unable to contend for the championship. We look forward to the summer series with Special Events where we finished third in the points. We are obviously looking to improve upon that!!
